Thompson Station is a city located in Williamson County, Tennessee. The population was 743 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Nashville metropolitan area.
The city was named for Colonel Ezekiel Thompson, an early settler.
The Battle of Thompson’s Station was fought here on March 5, 1863, during the American Civil War. Confederate cavalry commander Nathan Bedford Forrest attacked and defeated a Union garrison inside the fortifications erected to protect the L & N Railroad bridge over Harpeth River.
Today, Thompson Station is a thriving community with a rich history. There are several parks and recreation areas, as well as a variety of businesses and restaurants. The city is also home to a number of schools, including Fred J. Page High School, which is part of the Williamson County School District.
